We need a very clear way for the user to force the reloading of a feature type information both from the UI and from the REST api. In 1.7.x this job was delegated to the datastores, some cached nothing, others, like the old JDBC datastores, kept short lived cached that helped in case of high load (to avoid looking up 50 times in a second the ft) but did not interfere in the normal config case.
