Yes, it is. What I meant in my mail is that you cannot take the 1.7.x
version of it and use it against the 2.0.x series, or vice versa: they
are not binary compatible.

But besides that, yes, in 2.0 we're basically dropping the NG
and just use those as the defaults (PostGIS has been changed as well).
I believe the only non NG database extension we're distributing is
the MySQL one (an NG version of it exists, but atm it's significantly
slower than the older version... unfortunately there is lack of
interest in it).
