Bad shapefile DBF causes shapefile datastore to lock

I have a shapefile with a DBF that geotools cannot open. See
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-2689. But there is an additional bug.
When viewing the shapefile with a spatial index generated the shapefile will
deadlock after some time. I hit it with openlayers and uDig and after several
renderings and getCapabilities it deadlocked. It might be a combination of
concurrent usage, the index and the exception being thrown.
Not a critical issue without the index there seemed to be no problem.
If you want the data for testing take a look at the geotools bug. It is
attached there.
