Hi, maybe not everybody is aware of that, but GeoServer UI is using the GeoSilk icon set: http://projects.opengeo.org/geosilk
I upgraded the icons we had to the latest revision (GEOS-3556) and used the occasion to make the layers and preview page use a type specific icon: instead of just "vector" the icon now tells the user if the layer is a point, line or polygon (using the old icon for unspecified vector layers).
