PostGIS datastore does not show new layers until it is edited and saved
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: GEOS-3721
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-3721
             Project: GeoServer
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: PostGIS
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0
            Reporter: Miles Jordan
            Assignee: Andrea Aime

Actually not sure if it is a general datastore issue or postgis specific, but
if you add a table to postgis and register it with geometry_columns, geoserver
won't recognise it until you edit the datasetore and hit "save".

Probably the best way to get around it would be to reload the datastore when
the user goes to add a new layer from it, or at least make it obvious if that
is the intended functionality, that the datastore will need to be refreshed to
show new database structures, and provide a mechanism to do that (a button?).
