Hi, for the Lugano FOSS4G-IT 2010 conference I run the benchmarks against GS 2.0.1 and updated the results on the benchmarking wiki page: http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/GeoServer+benchmarks
As you can see 2.0.1 got substantially faster in some tests thanks to the fix in the PNG compression level (GS 2.0.0 was released by mistake with an overly high PNG compression level that resulted in a lot of work for very little output size advantages).
