We have had reports of GeoServer 2.1RC1 either locking with high CPU usage or
blowing with an OOM during startup.
According to the reports on the ml the issue seems solvable by removing the GWC
jars.
I cannot reproduce this, but it's sure alarming.
It did not happen with beta2... what could it be? The quota manager maybe?
Not sure what it takes to reproduce it, it may be OS dependent
