Hey Tisham, sorry for the slow response.
Afaik the javascript previews are dynamically produced, though I don't know
that it's actually a plugin that does it - we might have built it more
core. But I think the worldwind preview should probably start as a dynamic
plugin, start in a community module. A '3d preview' that can show up in the
GUI beneath the standard 'layer preview'. Once it gets stable we can see
about making it a default. I think we will need to do some usability
testing with how it works when a user doesn't have java installed.
But yeah, I think it'd be really cool to have.
