Hi Andrea,

thanks for your reply. At the moment there´s no plan to release this for the
general public. But I´ll ask for it. And we´re also only just starting with
it (doing the conception).
Our general idea is:
- you have a config-file or a interface (form-based for example)
- you can enter all kinds of params (like owner, supported
coordinate-systems, extensions)
- a script translates it into the directory-structure of a configDir and
creates the necessary xml-files for it
- the mvn-build-process is triggered and as a result you´ll get a customized
WAR-file
Correct me if this approach is wrong :-)

I was searching for a way to embed an external web.xml for the build-process
of the war-file. That means: I would like to be able to trigger the build
with something like "mvn install -DwebInfDir="/mydir" like I`m doing it for
the configDir ("mvn install -DconfigDirectory='/myDir'
-DconfigId='release'"). I guess something like this isn´t implemented,
right?
I was thinking about diving into editing the pom.xml (though I´m not
familiar with that yet) but this would also have the disadvantage that
whenever a new GeoServer-version is released, the pom.xml has to be adapted.

Best regards
Max Stephan
