Description:

Was getting sporadic errors... surprised to narrow this down to happen when the source WMS (MapServer in this case) outputs empty transparent indexed pngs. That is, I get errors only when there is no visible geometry in view. Attaching example png from source server and the resulting stacktrace from GeoServer.
