Simone recently created a Google+ community here:

Within a few days and with just a mail on the users list and message on
twitter we got some 120 subscribers, which seems to suggest there is
interest for having GeoServer people on that social medium.
So, I've prepared a blog post to advertise it some more: it's still in
draft, feedbacks are welcomed.
Also, if any PSC member would like to join and also become moderator, just
let me or Simone know. We are not sure if the Google+ community is going to
take off in any serious way, but if it does having some extra help in
moderation will surely help.
