Description:

The list of example GetCapabilities links on the welcome page is useful for telling which services are installed. However this list fails to take into account global configuration settings, and virtual service configuration settings.
Example 1: Base URL
#. Change Global settings and set the Base URL to your machine name
#. Return to the welcome page, the Links still refer to localhost
#. Clicking the link correctly shows the GetCapabilities documents internally referencing your machine name
Example 2: Global Services
#. Change Global settings Enable Global Services to false
#. Return to the welcome page, the Links are still listed
#. Clicking on a link will produce an exception that the workspace name was not specified
Example 3: Virtual Service
#. Enable WMS for a workspace
#. Return to the welcome page, the new service is not listed
