I have a problem with geoserver's rendering of halos and icons, as can be seen in this enlarged screenshot of the WMS output:

As you can see, the halo around the spot height is not centered around the ciphers; instead it looks like it has has slipped down by one pixel, so there is no halo above the ciphers, but a halo below which is wider than one pixel.
While I was told that a fix for the icon problem is in the pipeline, I mention it again because it might be connected with the halo problem; the symptoms are very similar. The halo problem occurs only on specific label+zoom level combinations and can be reproduced. It is not affected by scrolling and panning.
