I recall once trying to use -Djava.io.tmpdir to isolate builds and found 
that some fixtures appear to ignore it; this was some time ago and 
things might be better now. Furthermore, the first build to write an 
EPDG database into /tmp wins. Quite unhygienic when multiple builds run 
on a single host. I was never able to find a satisfactory solution.
