From a code review:
In developing a GeoServer log archival extension I looked at the github master branch AuditLogger.java source to determine how to extract the audit log directory . On line 86 the system property GEOSERVER_AUDIT_PATH is read and then, if present, validated. Then on line 106 this value is overwritten with a another getProperty(...) call. Is it possible that line 106 should be a setProperty(...)?
