When using the importer to do a direct import of a file DataStore (Eg. shapefile or GeoTiff), if the file path chosen exists within the data directory, the importer will use the absolute path. This absolute path is carried over to the datastore.xml file when the store is created, and negatively impacts data directory portability.
This is different from creating a store using geoserver, where if the path chosen exists within the data directory, a relative path is used.
