I have a tiny usability PR for the bin.zip {startup, shutdown}.sh (detect
Java from PATH is JAVA_HOME not set) but have no feedback and need to
know if it works on MacOS. It was in response to a community PR that I
thought might break MacOS:
Detect Java runtime from JAVA_HOME or PATH
https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/pull/1553
If I merge this today and kick the nightly, those with MacOS (and other
Linux) could check to see if the bin.zip still starts. I think it would
be a nice convenience improvement in 2.9.
The PR does not affect the Windows startup.bat; does anyone use
startup.sh on Windows? Windows can now run user mode Ubuntu binaries:

https://blogs.windows.com/buildingapps/2016/03/30/run-bash-on-ubuntu-on-windows/
Kind regards,
Ben.
