Catching up on email, the monitoring api is not heavily used so I am not
surprise at the lack of response.
I think as long as the addition is done in a way that does not break
backwards compatibility doing a back port is fine. Do you have a pressing
reason to ask for a back port sooner? Perhaps to get the change information
the next stable release ....
