Hi Gabriel,
for completeness sake, I have tried using a memory FS to store all the data
directories on Travis too, commit here:
https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/pull/3228/commits/1c43f9615a4389638e3fd4e319c76bc8314e57a1

Unfortunately it did not make a difference, the build seems to be CPU bound
on the build server too
