Hi, GDAL is switching to Proj 6 https://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/rfc73_proj6_wkt2_srsbarn with version 2.5<https://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/rfc73_proj6_wkt2_srsbarn%20with%20version%202.5>. Perhaps it would be better not to call GDAL 2.2 as new because there is rather soon a brand new GDAL which may not be totally compatible if imageio-ext is getting any information about projections through the GDAL bindings. So a new imageio-ext 1.3.0 version will be created that depends on the new GDAL, and master will be switched to use it. Also, imageio-ext master contains a few old "incomplete experiments" that we have been pushing forward ever since, e.g., 1.2.x was branched off 1.1.x, not from master. Since we are there, we are going to rename master to something else (master-2019-ex?), and fork a new master branch off 1.2.x, this hopefully will allow us to do some more "normal" branch management (except that we'll cut releases from the new master, imageio-ext has no place for "experimental stuff" since GT,GWC and GS only depend to it from official releases, not snapshots).
