As far as I know there's no one working or going to work on the current geogig community module.
I'm not sure if there's a policy to retire community modules where the company behind it shows no more interest and doesn't actively retire it. In any case I'd like to call for retirement of the geogig community module, in the interest of keeping geoserver's code base focused on active and supported modules and avoid cluttering.
