It is more that it is Java 8 specific; and we now recommend using Jai-ext. It has so many clarifications it is causing confusion, there was a recent user list discussion about this. I think this section should be divided up into "Java 8" and "Java 11".
To de-emphasis the JAI-EXT stuff we could link to a similar section in the geotools manual, and present it as a choice between using JAI-EXT (recommended) or JAI / ImageIO native libraries. -- Jody Garnett On Thu, 4 Jun 2020 at 00:30, Ian Turton <[email protected]> wrote: > There is a section of the manual entitled (confusingly) - Outdated: > install native JAI and ImageIO extensions > <https://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/production/java.html#outdated-install-native-jai-and-imageio-extensions> > - > should this just be deleted if it is outdated? or does it need some > clarification? > > Ian > > -- > Ian Turton > _______________________________________________ > Geoserver-devel mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/geoserver-devel >
