Hi all, a month ago these two PRs were merged, which add improvements in how the WMS dimension handling interacts with caching and animation download:
- [GEOS-10072] WMS dimension default values and nearest match can pollute caches (in GWC and beyond) <https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/pull/5093> - [GEOS-10073] Animation download process should report about eventual time mismatches <https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/pull/5097> The first PR can alter the GeoServer behavior, but only when enabled, disallowing caching of tiles when a default time is used, or when there is a nearest match, or a mismatch. The second one adds an extra output to the animation process, which the clients can retrieve, but will show up only if asking for it. Overall the backport should not cause issues for bystanders not trying out the new features. Any objections to a backport on 2.19.x? I've already asked during the latest PSC meeting, collecting no negative feedback, but all PSC members need an opportunity to provide feedback.
