It basically adds an entry in the WMS admin section to allow authorization headers forwarding to remote SLDs. In case a GetMap includes SLD parameter referring to an URL (remote SLD), the authorization headers (if any) provided to that request will be forwarded to the remote URL, but this will only occur if it's in the allowed list. https://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/services/wms/webadmin.html#authorization-headers-forwarding-for-remote-slds The new code path will be only involved once that list gets populated.
