Having IAU built-in means that every GeoServer installation will suddenly sport over 2000 new codes in the capabilities documents, and CRS lookups (aka "give me the identifier of this weird CRS without an id") will generally be slowed down by the sequential scan and comparison performed by property based CRS authorities.
