Okay it has been a month and the discourse GeoServer / user list is working, not exactly as planned, but working.
Folks have been having trouble posting a new topic: a) often getting the top-level GeoServer category b) not managing to join the geoserver group. This was an unexpected requirement as I had expected a public forum, with the group only required for "mailing list" email access Notifications are not really an email list replacement: c) Email notifications are only sent when you are not logged into the website (they are notifications, not a subscription) - disappointing but functional. With this in mind SAC has made it into a public forum (no group required): - Instructions and post are updated to remove group: https://geoserver.org/announcements/2024/08/01/geoserver-user-forum.html - And a note made about "new topic" being disabled if you selected the GeoServer top-level category I now have moderator access, and a test account, and am position to troubleshoot somewhat. - - Jody Garnett
