You are right - what a stupid mistake, which I then copied on and on without 
detecting the simple problem. I can confirm that CQL-Filters work as expected, 
including spatial filters (after I fixed another issue in the query).

Although most tasks can be achieved with CQL-filters, the issues with &bbox, 
&maxFeatures, spatial OGC filters remain, at least for those users who do not know 
about it. Thus, I am still looking for a solution.
