Yeah the docs have a challenge of being generated not knowing the most
recently released version...

The manual you download for the 2.25.2 version has the correct examples:

   -

We no longer publish online the docs for each release, only nightly docs,
so the online examples are always wrong.

This is something I fixed for mkdocs - compare:

   - sphinx-build:
   https://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/installation/docker.html
   - mkdocs: https://jodygarnett.github.io/geoserver/installation/docker/
