It's automatically turned on only in GS 2.1 series. In 2.0.2 it is considered experimental and you can turn it on by passing the java runtime the following two variables: -DADVANCED_PROJECTION_ HANDLING=true -DUSE_STREAMING_RENDERER=true Mind, forcing the streaming renderer will slow down shapefile rendering.
