I solved the problem. This is a bit embarassing but I copied the files into .\GeoServer 2.0.2\lib instead of .\GeoServer 2.0.2\webapps\geoserver\WEB- INF\lib. After that I can start Geoserver normally and the ArcSDE extension shows up. Thanks for all your help.
