Upon startup, I get the message "warning: failed to load the GDAL native
libs. This is not a problem unless you need to use the gdal plugins:
they won't be enabled.java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no gdaljni in
java.library.path"

I am using Windows XP. I first loaded a fresh version of the JDK. Then
downloaded and installed GeoServer (windows install version), which
installed well (manual start) except that I cannot use the imageio
raster extensions. The installation program installs the
geoserver_data_dir, geoserver_home, and java_home environment variables
correctly.

I did not download the imageio-ext package because it is now present in
geoserver. I do not have a gdal_home environment variable presently
set, but I have tried various combinations without success.

I saw a Feb 22, 2010 message that was somewhat similar on the
GeoSolutions website, but not understand the two suggested solutions.
