1. regarding the question...."do you use the REST API for configuration ?. I
would not
advise to configure ~ 100 layers manually."....the answer is no.
I haven´t had any experience with the REST api. I would have to first learn
what
it is, and how to implement it. Any help regarding tutorial sources would be
much appreciated.
2. Legend. @ David Winslow....you´re right. The legend is going to be long
regardless of the data structure. I would probably not include the dynamic
legend and have it made available as pdf as a button command or even as a tab
behind the map (geoExt).
