Thanks to a little hint fund here
(http://ian01.geog.psu.edu/geoserver_docs/software/index.html - posted by
Ian Turton - thanks for posting this address ;-) I have managed to make
geoserver work on Apache behind IIS.

In short - IIS rewrites all the traffic incoming to a subdomain and Apache
is configured to use a false proxy with the subdomain name and port 80.
Apache listens on port 8080.

Without telling Apache to change localhost:8080 to the subdomain name
geoserver worked partially - it was possible to pull the data but
capabilities document would wrongly point to a localhost

Do let me know if you need more details.

Subject: [Geoserver-users] Geoserver WFS-T with IIS

Hi,

I am new to this list. I would like to know if any Geoserver-users are
implementing Geoserver with IIS. Is it possible to find a step-by-step
method for using Geoserver with IIS (with or without apache). I am part a
project using MapServer, Tile-Cache and OpenLayers all geometry features are
in Oracle Spatial. Website is in a secure IIS governmental windows
environment. IT team reluctant to implement in Apache or anything else other
than IIS.

We are setup to do WMS, WFS and with our client want to introduce WFT-T with
Geoserver but with my preliminary tests

I found out that the installation of Geoserver 2.1 was with Jetty. Is
Geoserver customizable for IIS.

Regards,

Thyn
