As I understand it, the JAVA_HOME variable doesn't include the \bin, despite
the java.exe file being located there. So, for example, my JAVA_HOME is:

   C:\Program Files\java\jre1.6.0_07

so that's the path I use in that dialog, even though my java.exe is here:

   C:\Program Files\java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\java.exe

Hope this helps.

Hello Mike.

GREAT!! GeoServer 2.0.3 installs right now.

GeoServer User Manual, Release 2.0.2 says:

You will need to set the JAVA_HOME environment variable if it is not already
set. This is the path to your JDK/JRE such that %JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.exe
exists.

.. so I thought the \bin should be there. Thanks – now I can keep on testing
what is happening/not happening in QGIS and Gaia when I´m trying to use my
WMS 1.1.1 webservices. Regards Anders Söderman
