I believe it's in the same ballpark as this one: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-4528 In fact neither mysql nor sql server implement the unit test for sql views back in Geotools, so not surprised they are not working. As with MySql it would be nice to have some developer actually using Sql Server day in day out to provide support for the stores. So far the database based stores that are actually well covered as PostGIS, Oracle, DB2 and H2 (e.g. they have someone backing them that actually uses them in development or production).
