G'Day all,

We have GeoServer running on Ubuntu along with GeoNetwork and GeoExplorer,
connected to PostGIS on the back end. This install has been moderately
stable over the past several weeks, but today we seem to have lost
connection to GeoServer's WMS endpoint.

The GS control panel comes up fine, and I can preview layers through the GS
Preview links.

WMS and WFS are ticked/enabled.

But neither GeoNetwork or GeoExplorer are able to locate the WMS.
GeoExplorer used to be able to access a "Local GeoServer" by default, but
today that's gone.

The WMS GetCapabilities fails when tested at Team Engine:

Could not determine geoserver request from http request
org.apache.catalina.connector.RequestFacade@b03915

I've re-started Tomcat multiple times, but no change.

We set GeoServer logging to verbose and got about 3000 lines of debug and
trace messages, amongst which was this:

>>>>
ERROR [geoserver.ows] -
org.vfny.geoserver.wms.WmsException: Translator error
        at
org.vfny.geoserver.wms.responses.WMSCapabilitiesResponse.execute(WMSCapabili
tiesResponse.java:146)
        at
org.geoserver.ows.adapters.ResponseAdapter.getMimeType(ResponseAdapter.java:
48)
 ...
Caused by: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: Translator error
...
Caused by: org.vfny.geoserver.wms.WmsException: Error occurred trying to
write out metadata for layer: ro305_wgs84
...
Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.IOException: No such file:
RO305_Raw_Turtle_PhyloDiversityPD.sld
<<<

Does this mean that a single missing SLD file has brought down the WMS
server???

I'm not sure how to see or troubleshoot the situation more thoroughly.

Our service should be at: <http://122.100.15.242:8080/geoserver/wms>
http://122.100.15.242:8080/geoserver/wms

Any clues?
