Are you aware that there is a Ubuntu/Debian repository for AtlasStyler and Geopublisher? http://en.geopublishing.org/Download#repo If i remember correctly, the debs pull Sun Java 6 JRE (since I am personally convinced GP and AS still run better on the Sun VM).
