Part of the idea behind the metastore is to figure out cache misses (or the need for a tile refresh) without traversing the directories, so I doubt this has changed.

You would have to write a small program to rebuild the database yourself, if it has really been shot. Alternatively, if you don't use any of GWCs more advanced features, you may be able to get away with just disabling the metastore. (Try setting GWC_METASTORE_DISABLED to true in web.xml, the same way you define GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR).

All-

We are running Geoserver 2.0.2 with GWC. We have many gigabyes worth of tiles built for several map themes. We had some server issues, and following a restart, it seems that GWC no longer recognizes that the tiles exist. When we view the themes in OpenLayers (using GWC), the existing tiles get overwritten on the server.

My guess is that somehow the metastore database no longer recognizes that the tiles exist?

Is there some way to refresh/rebuild the metastore based on existing tiles on the server?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Morgen
