Have you tried doing a GetFeatureInfo regardless of what the
capabilities document say?
Get the built-in layer preview on a layer where you have disabled
GetFeatureInfo and click
anyways on a feature: do you get back the results on not?

I have not tried, but as far as I could see the patch was not actually
disabling GetFeatureInfo for those layers, but
was limited to not advertising the availability of the method in the
capabilities document.
I might have misread the patch
