Our scientists up until now have been producing a series of weekly outputs using SAS or R in the form of static jpg maps for online results pages. R is capable of producing shape files easily and we have experimented with results pages backed by OpenLayers using Geoserver as a source.
Manually adding and publishing each layer wouldn't be practical, so is there a method of scripting publication of layers, and if not, could anyone suggest an alternative way of making the resources available without many man-hours clicking publish. We also have an Oracle 10g database with Oracle Locator, so I guess results files could be inserted into that and brought into Geoserver that way.
