Yeah, opening a ticket is going to be good for the changelogs, and
also in case other
people stumbles in the same issues. As far as I understand this is
distro specific,
since on Ubuntu I'm having no problems (might be due to the libraries
that are linked
to parse the xml for example).

And then tomorrow grab the latest 2.1.x nightly build and check if the
ogr output format
works for good on your machine as well
