Hello -- I'm curious if there is any inclination to provide cross-origin resource sharing support in Geoserver itself? It is pretty simple to configure Apache to handle CORS: http://enable-cors.org/#how-apache, and this servlet filter should do the trick in Tomcat: http://software.dzhuvinov.com/cors-filter-configuration.html. Something like that servlet filter working out-of-the-box with Geoserver seems like it would be a good idea, as most modern browsers support/require CORS. I would be a happier fellow if my OpenLayers applications could get away from OpenLayers.ProxyHost!
