Dear geoserver mailing list,

is there any (good) way of emulating the equivalent of an SQL COUNT(*)
operation to know beforehand how many features a given query via the WFS
interface would return? We have a situation where a client is used to
iteratively refine queries until the "right" number of features is
returned, and original data can easily be in the 100's of MB.

Thanks & kind regards,

Thorsten
