Normally the GeoTools trunk is used by GeoServer trunk, whilst the GeoTools
stable branch (2.7.x)
is used by the GeoServer stable branch (2.1.x).
The patch above has been applied to GeoTools trunk only, so it's available
in GeoServer trunk only,
that is, what will eventually become the 2.2.0 (not sure when, but it's
likely months away).
The trunk nightly builds are here:

The patch as is leverages some java 6 functionality, so it could be
committed only there
(the stable series has java 1.5 as the minimum requirement instead).
However I believe that it could be back-ported to the stable series with
some effort
(basically, a rewrite, which in this case shouldn't be anything major, since
the
patch per se is pretty small)
