Your uriworkermap.properties should look something like this:

/your.external.ip.address/geoserver/*=tomcat
/127.0.0.1/geoserver/*=tomcat
/*.your.hostname.com/geoserver/*=tomcat

your workers.properties shoud looke something like this:

/* ajp13 port should match the one you configured in tomcat */
worker.tomcat.port=9401
worker.tomcat.host=127.0.0.1
worker.tomcat.type=ajp13
