Hi everyone,

I'm interested in future plans for implementing support for curved
geometries in GeoServer. Since they are a part of OGC Simple Feature Access,
GML standard and Post GIS, Oracle and the new version of SQL Server all
support curve geometry types, wouldn't it be nice to have GeoServer be able
to render them natively? Of course there is a workaround involving
in-database transformation of curves to lines, but still, that introduces
unsolvable problems in terms of curve editing tools in web mapping
frameworks coupled with GeoServer. I think that there are many people
interested in this and would greatly benefit from this feature as GeoServer
is a reference implementation for OGC services and has practically become
industry standard. It would probably push the development of several other
open-source projects (development of complex tools for curve drawing and
editing in OpenLayers for instance).

Please comment and share your experience in dealing with curved geometries
and GeoServer.

Best regards,
Marko
