I have some ideas, they would require a rewrite of the referencing code to
use
a proper connection pool (the current code does not really use best
practices
to connect to a db), however that is no small task, and besides that, I
cannot
be sure that fill fix the issue.
If I could replicate it at least a better diagnosis could be made, maybe
there
are easier, less invasive/work intensive ways to deal with that
