Hi Andea,
thanks for the help. I tried it out and it really worked :). I  could upload my 
.sld-files without problems. The only diffeculty  I have is to upload a layer 
group. 
I have the following command:
curl -u admin:passwortXY -XPOST -d @d4d_at_21.xml -H "Content-type: text/xml" 
http://ServerXY/geoserver/rest/layergroups. When I try it out, a warning pop 
up. It says the the daty from file d4d_at_21 could not be read. I definitely 
have a file named d4d_at_21.xml on the local data directory of geoserver on my 
computer. Do you have an idea why it doesnt work?

Or, if you have many and want to automate the upload, look into the 
documentation for the "rest configuration" api
