The second error looks like a lack of permissions on files. Try to execute commands prefixing them with "sudo" in order to execute them as superuser (if you are not amongst sudoers, you should add your user to the sudoers list). If this sounds a bit arcane, you may just "uprgrade" your bash session to superuser by using the "su" command and try to re-install the thing: I am pretty positive this has nothing to do with either JAI or JDK.
