This combination of software is often used behind firewalls that block all incoming and outgoing traffic. If you encounter any loss of functionality when you have no internet connection, please report it as a bug. Note that you will require loopback networking enabled so that applications can connect to services on localhost via TCP. If you completely disable all networking so that your PC cannot even connect to itself, none of this software will work. This situation is usually only seen on misconfigured systems or those on which networking has been intentionally disabled (with for example "ifconfig lo down"). This is not the same as having your ethernet unplugged and your wifi off; loopback should still be working in that case. See your network interfaces with ifconfig under Unix (Linux, MacOS) or ipconfig under Windows. Be sure to download all the manuals before going offline!
